What are we learning?

Language Arts

•  Students will learn to read beyond the words and literal story. 
• Students will uncover the deeper meanings and messages of texts
• Students will select their favorite authors to read, celebrate, and write like.

Math

• Students will continue to add and subtract up to and from ten.
• Students will create and solve single-step story and picture problems using addition and subtraction within 20 
• Students will use the equal sign to create equations that are equal to one another.   
  Example :     9+1 = 3+  __?__       The answer is 7

Science

•  Students will continue to investigate and understand that plants have basic life needs.
• Students will identify the functional parts of plants and how they help the plant to survive. 
• Students will understand that animals, including humans, have basic life needs that help them to survive.

Social Studies

• Students will explore the traits of a good citizen, on and offline
•  Students will work hard in school 
• The student will understand that the people of Virginia make contributions to their communities
