Important Dates & Reminders

• The CogAT assessment for second graders will be rescheduled. New dates to follow. 
• Please continue to send in after-school club forms if your child is interested in attending a club.

Updates on Our Learning:

• Reading: We are continuing to read fiction texts as a class, with a focus on the characters, setting, problem, and resolution. We are also thinking about character feelings and traits. 
• Writing: Students are writing personal narratives that include lots of action, dialogue, and detail.
• Phonics: We are studying open and closed syllables. Click these links for examples and ways to practice at home. 
• Math: Students took the unit 1 assessment last week and will be bringing home their work this week. We are starting unit 2 this week, with a focus on place value. Students will be working on understanding the value of digits in three-digit numbers (e.g., the value of 3 in 345 is 300).
• Science: We are continuing to study monarch butterflies and their life cycles.
