What are we learning?

Language Arts

  • This month we will finish our Character Unit where we read about different types of characters and analyze their feelings and traits. We will also talk about the problems the characters face and how they solve them.
  • In writing, we will be finishing our personal narratives about an important moment in our lives.
  • This month we will also start our nonfiction unit where we will learn about different topics through nonfiction texts. We will also talk about the main idea of a nonfiction text and how we know it’s the main idea with 3 details.

Math

  • We will finish our addition and subtraction unit where we add and subtract numbers up to 3 digits (324 + 143), and identify the place and value of each digit in a four-digit number (4356).
  • In this month we will also start our multiplication and division unit. Students will learn to identify a multiplication equation through word problems. They will also discover different ways to solve a multiplication or division problem.

Science

  • This month we are finishing our ladybug unit. Students will learn about life cycles, ecosystems, food chains, and adaptations.

Social Studies

  • This month we will learn about world geography. Students will explore the 7 different continents and work on their map skills.

  • How did we adapt as humans in order to survive?
  • What is in our home ecosystem? 
  • Can you tell me what things are living or nonliving?
  • How do we read Google Maps?
  • What are the 7 continents on earth?
  • What are the 5 oceans on earth?
  • Tell me all about something you’ve learned about.
  • Read this nonfiction book. What did you learn?
  • Read this fiction book. What did you learn about the character?
  • While shopping ask: If I buy 10 apples for the week, how many apples could we eat each day if we ate the same amount?
  • While shopping ask: If we buy 4 packages of garlic and there are 3 garlics in each package, how many garlics will we have?
