What are we learning?

Language Arts

• We will be moving on to our Functional Text Unit & Testing as a Genre! If you have any youtube videos, commercials, flyers, infographics, magazines or newspapers at home use them to ask your child questions: 
• What is the main idea of the text? 
• Who is the audience? 
• What is the author trying to tell us? What is the author’s opinion?
• What pops out at a first glance? 
• What words give you clues about the author’s perspective?

Math

• We are currently in our Geometry Unit. Students are learning about the parts of a circle, transformations (reflection, translation and rotation), subdividing polygons and will be learning how to measure and classify angles.

Science

• We are learning about Sound Energy, how it is created and how it travels in compression waves and through different states of matter. We will also make string instruments to learn about volume and pitch.

Social Studies

• Students are putting the final touches on their Global Awareness Technology Project!
