Language Arts
What are we learning?
- In reading, we are learning about letter sounds and finding letters with words. We are learning about character traits.
- In Writing, we are learning how writers can write personal narratives.
Home/School Connection
- At home, you can talk to your students about characters in books they read at home and in school. Ask them questions like… (what is their personality like, what things do they enjoy). Ask your child what book characters are similar to themselves or the people around them.
- You can also work with them to improve their writing and reading skills of CVC words like mat. At home, you can also play fun rhyming games that help to expose students to new words while also finding rhyming connections.
Math
What are we learning?
- We are learning how to count to 100 and learning how to identify numbers before and after 100.
Home/School Connection
- At home, you can count items with your students. You can also ask them about what number comes before and after a given number up to 100.
Science
What are we learning?
- We are learning about magnets and shadows.
Home/School Connection
- At home, you can explore shadows and magnets. Go on a shadow hunt with your student. If you have a flashlight at home (or one on your phone), explore different shadow shapes and shadow animals with your hands. Explore what things are or aren't magnetic around your home.
Social Studies
What are we learning?
- We are learning about how to treat one another and how to be a good friend.
Home/School Connection
- At home, continue to reinforce the use of kind words with your student. Talk to your child about what they can do when someone hurts their feelings and how they can be an advocate for themselves and others.
Final Reminders
Please make sure to practice tying shoes and zipping jackets at home with your child. Also, please make sure they have updated winter clothes (pants & long sleeve shirts ) in their backpacks in case of accidents. Thank you!
