What are we learning?
Language Arts
- Essential question: Why do plants and animals have needs?
- We are learning to recognize letters.
- We are learning that words are separated by spaces.
- We are learning about directionality, we read from left to right.
- We are learning to recognize rhyming words and to isolate phonemes.
- We are learning about nouns.
Math
- We are learning about the attributes of squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles.
- We are learning about repeating patterns.
Science
- We are learning about the 5 senses and how to observe the world around us with them.
- We are learning about shadows and how they are produced.
- We are learning about pumpkins and their parts.
Social Studies
- We are learning about making choices in Economics, as well as what a need and a want are.
- We are learning about how to make healthy choices.
Questions to ask your child at home.
- What do animals and plants need to survive?
- What is the first sound in the word cat / bus / mill?
- What does a square / triangle / circle / rectangle look like? How many sides does it have?
- What sense would you use if there was a fire around you? Why?
Social Emotional Learning
- Students are using Second Step to learn how to be active listeners and how to be a kind friend.
