What are we learning?

This month is all about research!

Students will participate in collaborative and partner discussions about various texts and topics,  Listen and respond to a variety of print and media materials, Use vocabulary from other content areas, Ask and answer who, what, where, when, why, and how questions about what is read,  Identify audience and purpose,  Use correct spelling for commonly used sight words and phonetically regular words and Find information from provided sources.

Math

What are we learning?

• In math, we will be learning how to
• Represent and solve practical problems involving equal sharing with two or four sharers
• Represent and name fractions for halves and fourths, using models 
• Collect, organize, and represent various forms of data using tables, picture graphs, and object graphs
• Read and interpret data displayed in tables, picture graphs, and object graphs, using the vocabulary more, less, fewer, greater than, less than, and equal to

Home/School Connection

• Practice fractions using words like half, whole, and fourths by drawing pictures or using toys/food
• Have your child come up with a question and ask family members/friends. They can then graph the answers! (example: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?)

Science

What are we learning?

• We are continuing to learn about: 
  • Plants’/animals’ response to seasonal changes, plant parts, basic needs of plants

Home/School Connection

• explore books about plants and animals (MyOn or Pebble go)
• discuss different plant parts and what they need to survive

Social Studies

What are we learning?

• We are continuing to learn about:
  • Economics Money and savings,  Geography Land, water, and climate
