Hi 4th grade families! We are excited about the progress your students have been making this year! They are becoming quite the readers and mathematicians. We are looking forward to seeing them continue to grow!

Language Arts
What are we learning?
- Content Area Research - students will be choosing a social studies or science topic to research. They will ask questions, take notes, synthesize information and present their learning.
Home/School Connection
- Ask students about their research topics. Encourage them to continue their research at home or at the public library.
Math
What are we learning?
- Multiplication and Division Part 2 - students are learning to multiply 2-digit by 2-digit numbers (example 23 x 76) and divide 3-digit by 1-digit numbers (example 893/4).
Home/School Connection
- Practice your multiplication facts at home! Knowing the basic facts helps students solve larger problems.
Science
What are we learning?
We are finishing our oceans unit. Students have been learning about the importance of the ocean and how people interact with it.
Home/School Connection
Ask students what they are learning and how different organisms interact with each other. Discuss why taking care of our oceans is important.
Social Studies
What are we learning?
We will begin learning about the Revolutionary War - the causes, important people and battles and the outcome.

Ask students about what they are learning in social studies and how it is different from their lives today.
