Language Arts

What are we learning?

In language arts, the 6th graders have been doing research on their choice of one of the first five presidents. As students complete their research they have begun writing their research papers. Once done with that, students will create a poster and present the president to the class.

Questions to connect with your student

  • Tell me three facts about the president you chose.
  • What is a paragraph and how many have you written about the president you chose?

Math

What are we learning?

In math, 6th graders have been working on learning the vocabulary around one step linear equations and then solving one step linear equations with a variable. Next week students will be working on graphing inequalities on a number line.

Science

What are we learning?

We just finished up our unit on H2O. Students learned about water quality and had an opportunity to test our water here at school and compare it to water from the local river. Students were able to look at different indicators within the water to check the health of our local water sources.
