Language Arts

What are we learning?

  • We are learning about medial letter sounds and finding letters with words. We are learning about elements of poetry. We are learning how writers can write poetry.

Home/School Connection

  • At home you can explore MyOn with your child. It was just introduced to them. Explore poetry on MyOn.
  • You can also work with them to improve their writing and reading skills of CVC words like mat. At home you can also play fun rhyming games that help to expose students to new words while also finding rhyming connections.

Math

What are we learning?

  • We are learning about composing and decomposing numbers. 

Home/School Connection

  • Review numbers with your child. As them to show you on there fingers various ways to make (3,4, and 5). This will not only support them with there finger pattern skills but it will also support them with their math flexibility.

Science

What are we learning?

  • We are learning about the water cycle and weather patterns.

Home/School Connection

  • Check out the weekly weather forecast on your phone or on the computer with your child. Talk about how weather can change people’s plans and the different types of weather changes for the upcoming Spring Season.

Social Studies

What are we learning?

  • We are learning about community helpers and economics.

Home/School Connection

  • Talk to your child about jobs within our community. Ask your child who are community helpers that they see every day in their lives. What about community helpers they don’t often see?

Final Reminders

  • At home, continue to reinforce the use of kind words with your student. Talk to your child about what they can do when someone hurts their feelings and how they can be an advocate for themselves and others. 
  • Please make sure to practice tying shoes and zipping jackets at home with your child. Also, please make sure they have updated winter clothes (pants & long sleeve shirts ) in their backpacks in case of accidents. Thank you!
