Happy November! We can’t believe we are already in the 2nd Quarter. This November we are thankful for your children and your support!

Important Dates & Reminders

Language Arts

What are we learning?

  • We are learning about letter sounds and finding letters with words. 
  • We are learning that writers can use patterns to make stories predictable.

Home/School Connection

  • Have your students practice writing the letters we have learned so far.
    • Can they find items around the house that start with them? Couch for C, Jam for J. 
  • Practice rhyming words with your student.
    • Ask your students what rhymes with ____ (cat, dog, mop, hot)

Math

What are we learning?

  • We are learning about patterns and numbers.

Home/School Connection

  • Have your students make patterns of their own using household items.
  • Have your students engage in authentic counting opportunities.
    • How many ___ are there?

Science

What are we learning?

  • We are learning about Squirrels and living/nonliving things.

Home/School Connection

  • Go on a walk in your neighborhood.
    • Can you find a squirrel drey in the trees or any bitten acorns?
  • Have your child grab 5 things from outside.
    • Can they sort the items into groups of living vs nonliving?

Social Studies

What are we learning?

We are learning about how things change over time and maps vs globes.

Home/School Connection

  • Show your child old pictures of themselves and old photos of yourself.
    • Talk about how they have changed and how you have changed.
  • Go on Google Earth and explore!
    • Have your child point out what is water and what is land.

Tips for Success at Home

  • We encourage reading with your child for at least 20 minutes daily.
  • Please practice how to tie your shoes.
  • We encourage the routine practice of personal information including address, phone number, lunch pin, birthday, etc.
  • We also suggest daily counting practice and references to time (before, after, 1st, 2nd, etc).
  • Lastly, ST Math, MyON, and Lexia are great resources to use in the home environment
