Important Dates & Reminders

  • The annual All-County Chorus Festival will take place on April 27, 2024, at Hayfield Secondary School at 3 p.m. Bucknell ES will be sending seven talented sixth-graders to participate in the Festival this year.

What are we learning?

Music

  • General Music: The third and fourth-quarter music units focus on music literacy; and reading music notation correctly. 
  • K-2 students continue to play classroom percussion instruments and play written rhythmic patterns.  
  • K-1 students are completing their study of Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens. 
  • Students in grades 2-3 are completing their study of Peter and the Wolf by Serge Prokofiev. 
  • Third and fourth-grade students are learning new repertoire on the recorder. 
  • Fifth and sixth-grade students are composing their own ten-note melodies.

STEAM

  • K-1 Grades are learning about algorithms.  They will be programming Bee Bots soon!
  • 2nd Grade students are thinking about technology tools to prepare them in Building Solar Ovens.
  • 3rd Grade is testing soil for Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potash (K) to ensure proper plant growth. 
  • 4th Grade is working on making the Ocean Zones (Sunlight, Twilight, Midnight, Abyss, Trench) in a jar.  
  • 5th Grade students are making ArtBots.
  • 6th Grade students will be exploring Algebra through a ‘Hands On Equations’ program. .   

Library

  • Thanks for a great Book Fair!  We have lots of new books coming!!  
  • 3rd grade is learning about Poetry in the library and in the classroom with some team teaching with Mrs. Abouraad, Mrs. Ames, and the 3rd grade team.
