Important Dates & Reminders

  • Eco-Code Art Contest - Students may create an illustration that represents how they take care of the environment at Bucknell Elementary School.  Drawings are to Mrs. Bousbouras, STEAM teacher, by Friday, November 17th.  The winner will have their artwork be Bucknell’s ECO-Code for this school year.  
  • Scholastic Book Fair November 27-December 1 in the Library 

Updates on Our Learning:

  • Physical Education: Students are participating in Nutrition and Fitness activities learn about the different types of food groups, nutrients and their benefits.
  • STEAM: Students participated in a Veteran’s Day Lego Challenge;  K - 1 grade students are learning to use iPads to videotape their Lego stories;  2nd grade students are participating in a live virtual presentation with an agricultural engineer;  4th graders are learning the physical properties of air;  5th and 6th graders are learning the engineering design process.
  • Library:  We used our communicator skills and wrote thank you cards for Veterans to be mailed with care packages through Project Gratitude.
  • Band/Strings/Chorus: save the date for our Winter Concert, Wednesday,Dec 13, 2023. 5th and 6th graders will perform for the school at 2:00 PM and for the community at 7:00 PM. We are looking forward to showing everyone what we can do with our music! The BES Chorus participated in the 2023 Annual Pyramid Concert on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, and did a fantastic job. 
  • General Music: Students in grades K-6 are singing songs related to Veterans Day and Thanksgiving.  Students in grades 5-6 are starting to play classroom percussion instruments such as the metallophone, xylophone, and glockenspiel.  Students in grades 3-6 will practice reading notes in treble clef.
