READING BY 3RD GRADE
Outcomes
- The percentage of multilingual learners in grades K-3 meeting or exceeding VALLS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025.
- The percentage of students in grades K-3 meeting or exceeding the VALLS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025.
Strategies
- Increase opportunities for English Language Development through use of embedded strategies during whole-group instruction and intentional small-group instruction focused on specific student needs.
- Use embedded formative assessments in the new core curriculum to guide tier 1 and tier 2 instructional decisions.
- Increase teacher content knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with science-based reading research to improve the implementation of the new core curriculum.
- Increase efficiency of instructional delivery to ensure all students have daily access to all components of the language arts block as outlined in the new core curriculum.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MATH
Outcomes
- The annual Math SOL pass rate of students with disabilities in grades 3-6 will increase by 5 percentage points from Spring 2024 to Spring 2025.
- The percentage of students in grades 1 - 6 demonstrating expected growth on the math iReady screener increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025 (from 53% to 58%).
Strategies
- Improve teachers’ implementation of Framework for Engaging & Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.
- Increase formal collaboration between classroom teachers and ESOL teachers to develop the language of mathematics through the use of embedded strategies during whole-group and small-group instruction.
- Increase teacher implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention.
- Increase students’ self-efficacy around the ability to be successful in mathematics.
STUDENT GROUP
Outcome
- By Spring 2025, the annual pass rate for students with disabilities will increase by 5 percentage points from Spring 2024 to Spring 2025 on the math SOL.
