What are the new big concepts for your grade level this year?

• 3rd graders will learn multiplication and division for the first time!
• In Science, we will focus on Animal Adaptations as the new concept.
• In Social Studies, we will explore Ancient Civilizations.
• In Language Arts, we will focus on deepening our thinking about stories, characters, and themes. 

Our school is focusing on the Portrait Of a Graduate Communicator skill– how might your team teach/use this skill this year? 

• 3rd graders will practice being communicators by implementing Socratic Seminars to increase student discourse, allow students to defend their thinking, and take on other perspectives. 

What is your team most looking forward to this year?

• We are looking forward to getting to know our students and building a classroom culture of caring, responsible, and inquisitive third graders. 

Advice for families to help your student succeed in and outside of the classroom. 

• Please try to read daily and have conversations with your child about the things you see and do throughout the day.
• We encourage constant conversation about feelings and emotions, and the best way to navigate those feelings.
