The sixth graders started back after winter break with a great attitude and ready to learn. We were all thankful for the break but happy to be together again. We are excited about the progress we are seeing as we wrap up quarter two at the end of this month.

Language Arts

What are we learning?

In reading and writing, we are learning about the elements of poetry as well as different types of poems. Students will be creating poetry using different rhythms and rhymes. Students will also be reciting a poem to the class that they memorized.

Math

What are we learning?

We are continuing our learning about integer operations. In December we focused on adding and subtracting negative and positive integers. This month we will focus on multiplying and dividing negative and positive integers.

Science

What are we learning?

We studied science in December and will be moving back into science in February.

Social Studies

What are we learning?

In social studies, we are learning about Colonial America. Students will be examining the reasons for colonization as well as different areas there were colonized. Students are also looking at colonial life in America.
