3rd Grade Newsletter
Happy May Families! Our students are working hard trying to soak as much knowledge as they can before their SOL’s this month! As we enter testing season, make sure your students are getting enough sleep to make sure they can perform their best on the test. Make sure they also get breakfast so their brains have energy to work!

Home/School Connection
- Have your kiddo read poems out loud to you and your family. Maybe go to the local library and checkout poetry books for your family to enjoy.
Math
What are we learning?
- Probability
- Multiplication and Division
Home/School Connection
- Have your kiddo play card games and ask them questions about what chances they have of winning or losing.
- Have your kiddo practice their multiplication and division facts at home! For example-6 x 3, 8/2, 2 x 6, 10/5, etc.
Science
What are we learning?
- Simple Machines
Home/School Connection
- Take a trip to a hardware store, or a playground, and ask them about different types of simple machines they see: lever, pulley, ramp, seesaw, etc.
Social Studies
What are we learning?
- Empire of Mali
Home/School Connection
- Have your kiddo research Ancient African history, Mansa Musa, Sundiata (Lion King), and ask them what the most interesting thing they have learned about it is.
