What are we learning?
Language Arts
- We are learning about characters and how the setting impacts the character.
- We are learning about character traits and how to identify them based on the character’s actions and dialogue.
- We are also learning about relationships between characters and how they relate to us.
- In word study, we are learning about the prefix “ad-” and “sub-”. In writing, we are working on memoirs.
Math
- We are learning how to compare and order fractions and mixed numbers with unlike denominators
- We are learning to order fractions and decimals from least to greatest and greatest to least
- We are learning to round decimals to the nearest whole number, tenth, and hundredth
- We are learning to identify fractions and decimal equivalents
Science
- We are learning about force, motion, and energy
- Students are learning how to work collaboratively with one another in small groups to carry out scientific investigations
- Students are learning how to record their thoughts and data during a scientific investigation
Social Studies
- We are learning about Ancient Greek civilizations
Questions to ask your child at home.
- What real-life examples at home can you give in relation to force, motion, net force, and friction
- After reading, ask questions like
- “What do you notice about the character/story?”
- “What do you wonder about the character/story?”
- “What do you think will happen next in the story?”
- “What are 3-5 facts you learned from the story (Nonfiction book)
