Updates on Our Learning:
Reading: We are continuing to learn more about nonfiction reading and writing. As a class, we have been learning about various nonfiction topics, including sharks, honey bees, and hurricanes.
Writing: Students are writing books to teach others about topics they know a lot about.
Phonics: We are working on blends in phonics, including r blends and ending t blends. We are finishing up the month with w and l blends.
Math: We are in the middle of a measurement unit. Students are learning to measure length with a ruler, weight with a scale, and temperature with a thermometer.
Science: We started a weather unit; students created mind maps to show what they already know about types of storms.
Social Studies: We learned about two holidays that fall in November this year, Dia de los Muertos and Diwali. We will be starting units on different indigenous Americans, thinking about how their environment has impacted their lives and cultures.
