Important Dates & Reminders

What are we learning?

Art

  • PREK students have started Art class this week and jumped right in with reviewing shapes, colors, and a special Thanksgiving poem.
  • Kindergarten through 3rd grade will start learning about sculpture and weaving. Learning how drawing involves movement and learning different patterns for weaving.
  • 4th grade through 6th graders will be learning about culture around the world through painting and drawing techniques. We will also be preparing for the Pyramid show in the spring. 
  • Art Contest winners are:
    • Pre-k- 2nd grade: 1st Place - Phoenix G. - 2nd grade, 2nd Place:Sydney L. -Kindergarten, 3rd place- Kyla - 2nd grade
    • 3rd-5th grade winners: 1st place: Lelani H. - 4th grade, 2nd place: Briella C.- 2nd grade, 3rd place: 4th grade Student
    • Dance Category Winner: 1st place: Elena M. - 3rd grade  

PE

  • K through 6 grades will be dribbling using playground and basketballs focusing on using primary and non-primary hand, hand eye coordination, level change, different loco-motor skill movements, and speeds.

Music

Students are beginning to sing holiday songs. Grades 5-6 will sing the Shaker song Simple Gifts from memory.  Third- and fourth-graders are learning to play Hot Crossed Buns and the GAB Waltz on their recorders. Students in grades 5-6 are changing from bucket drums to xylophone, metalophone and glockenspiel. All students are reading note rhythms and identifying note values. Grades 4-6 are reviewing the names of notes in treble clef. Students will learn about the composers Haydn, Mozart and Tchaickovsky.

Library

  • BOOK FAIR December 2-6, 2024
  • Winter Reading Challenge!                
    • As an incentive to read over the break, students will be sent home with bingo board on the last week of school (we will also post on Bucknell website).
    • Bring back signed by an adult to enter a raffle in January 2025. 
    • Classes can win a poster or a dance party with Principal Green!
